Chameleon Markers

I got to try out some new markers and thought I'd share some comments. Typically when working with color, I work digitally or with colored pencils (my scientific illustrations). I only use markers sparingly in a sketchbook for a pop of color since they typically bleed through my Moleskine pages (and these still do). Therefore it may be safe to say I am not the target audience, but they do come highly recommended on Amazon.

Chameleon markers say they "are changing the way you think about marker pens. Chameleon color tones bring color control and simplicity to your art. Create stunning effects such as 3d, smooth transitions, highlighting, shading, gradations, and blending, all with one Pen. Each Pen goes from light as a hint of a tint to rich tones, eliminating tonal gaps in your collection." This is true if you can get a handle of the gradations without using too much alcohol that it ends up ruining the page. The colors are heavily pigmented which is great. However, I feel like I have more control over the gradations with watercolors than these markers. On the plus side, there isn't the usual alcohol-based marker smell!

Studying Fabrics

I have worked in retail for many years now. I have started to pick up on fabric trends instead of just color and patterns. Additionally, I have taken an interest in the use of more natural fibers. Wool especially is intriguing. Many people have an allergy or sensitivity to it. However, it can be used to create a variety of textures and patterns in textiles.
